2013 - A Study on the Effect of Radiation emitted from Cellular Phones

A Study on the Effect of Radiation emitted from Cellular Phones (2013)

Dr. Madhuranga Fernando, Sameera Isanka Saranath

Usually when a person connects to a telephone call using a cellular phone, a large amount of radiation is emitted from the cellular phone. Especially there is a belief among the people, that “the effect of this radiation from the some low cost phones is very high”. The radiation causes damages to the human brain cells, whereas the effect from the branded phones (such Apple, Blackberry, Nokia, Sony-Ericson,… etc), is negligible. Because of this reason, it is preferred to use the branded phone types.

This project will involve the following steps:
1. Literature survey on the effect of radiation emitted from a cellular phone.
2. Make an experimental setup to measure the amount of radiation emitted from a cellular phone.
3. Prepare a chart on the amount of radiation emitted from different types of phones. Then from the chart, advise the public to use the less harmful phone types.
