This project provides an opportunity to the student to have a basic idea of how Magnetic studies are being carried out to unravel the subsurface of a region. Well known “trial and error method” will be used for this purpose and basic steps involved are given bellow.

1. Detailed study of literature related to 1D and 2D interpretation of magnetic anomalies.
2. Development of a software routine to compute the magnetic anomalies due to a 2D body of known polygon cross-section.
3. Comparison of the observed and calculated magnetic anomalies to obtain a structure that satisfies the observed magnetic anomaly.
