Yasanjali Devika Jayatilleke is a Professor of Anthropology, in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Sri Jayewardenapura, Sri Lanka. She is also an Attorney-at-Law.  In 1993 she was awarded SAARC scholarship by the government of India and completed her Ph.D in 1998 from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She won the D. D. Athulathmudali Memorial Prize for the best performance of the Jurisprudence in the Bachelor of Laws degree programme of the Open University of Sri Lanka in 1990. She is the former Director of the External Degrees and Extension Courses Unit of Sri Jayewardenepura University. She works as a consultant to the Ministry of Women affairs and Ministry of Culture. She was a member of the National Committee of Women attached to the Ministry of Women Affairs.

Her research areas are Cultural Anthropology and Sociology with special interest in women affairs, child affairs and gender based violence, rituals, rites of passage, intangible cultural heritage and tribal studies. She has many academic writings including over 30 journal articles, 16 research papers and 5 books based in Sociology and Anthropology
