Dr. M. M. P. Madhuranga Fernando is presently a senior lecturer in physics attached to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His research interests are geophysics, computational physics, mathematical physics, theoretical physics, and physics of music.
Degrees:
  • B.Sc. Special Degree in Physics with first-class honours, University of Sri Jayewardanepura, Sri Lanka.
  • Ph.D. in Physics (Geophysics and Computational Physics), University of Sri Jayewardanepura, Sri Lanka.
Interests: 
  • Buddhist philosophy, mathematical modeling, solving mathematical equations, literature and music.

Ferrnando won the NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AWARD in 2008 in the category of Outstanding Science & Technology Contributions Having an Impact on Major National Projects for making a significant contribution in the application of science and technology for the submission titled “Estimation of sediment thickness in the Indian Ocean around Sri Lanka for claiming our Extended Economic Zone”.
