2010 - A Study of variation of Angle of Elevation of the Sun

A Study of variation of Angle of Elevation of the Sun (2010)

Dr. Madhuranga Fernando, Lakmali Hasanthika

Main objectives of the study :
1) Steps involve in the project Design an implement a suitable experimental setup to measure the angular position of the Sun. Making and observation with regard to the angular position of the Sun in sufficiently close equal intervals from dawn to dusk. Fitting a mathematical model to the observation and its validation.
2) Important of the study This study can be used for Astronomy, Astrology and also space physics Astronomy- to measure the Sun’s position for a given day and given time. Astrology- to have knowledge about the Sun rice and the Sun set Space Physics-to get an idea about the Sun’s dawn and dusk Practical application-to operate a Sun tracker

Limitation of the study : In order to fit an appropriate model, due to that would have to be collect for 365 days which is impractical. Therefore data was collected at least two times per month. (most of months data could be taken four times per month) As well as to that data have been collected throughout the day with time intervals (in 15 minutes). With regarding to the research data obtained from October to June and data couldn’t achieved for the rest of month.
